What's in your bag?
First and Foremost-check the the Kentucky Derby website for any updates to changes in what is and isn't allowed Derby week. As of posting this, guests are limited to one bag no larger than 12"x12"x6" So...what are the Derby essentials?
I've been to Oaks or Derby every year for the past 25 years. Here are the things I now always have with me:
- Clear disposable poncho (if there's even a slight chance of rain)
- Blister bandages-I bring a lot and save people's days occasionally
- Battery back up-Online betting and huge crowds can drain that battery way before the final race.
- Disposable toothbrush/Floss picks-Lots of fun bites and cockatils with sugar. Enough said.
- Bobby pins-Secure your fascinator from wind gusts.
- Safety pins-The restrooms get to be areas of helping one another-be that girl.
- Ball point pen-For notes your race bets in the program, they can be hard to come by.
- Lipstick & powder-Touch ups-obvi.
- Cash for bar tips-Always appreciated.
- Mints/gum-We all get to be close talkers by the final race.
- Sunglasses-Always hoping for that sun to shine down on the greatest two minutes in sports!
- Pain reliever
Prior purse planning prevents possible problems!
Happy Derby!
